My Obsidian Workflow

🌿 Budding

How I use Obsidian for note-taking, knowledge management, and publishing.

Obsidian as a Second Brain

Obsidian is a powerful knowledge base that works on local Markdown files. I use it as my primary note-taking and thinking tool.

My Workflow

  1. Capture: Quick notes in a daily note or inbox
  2. Process: Link and organize during weekly reviews
  3. Publish: Sync to this digital garden via Git

Plugins I Use

  • Dataview: Query notes like a database
  • Templater: Consistent frontmatter templates
  • Git: Auto-commit and push to the garden repo

Publishing Pipeline

The flow from Obsidian to the web:

  1. Write notes in Obsidian with standard frontmatter
  2. Notes are stored in the same Git repository as the Astro project
  3. Each commit triggers a rebuild
  4. Pagefind re-indexes automatically

Tips

Keep notes atomic — one idea per note. This makes linking more meaningful and the graph view more useful.
