Obsidian as a Second Brain
Obsidian is a powerful knowledge base that works on local Markdown files. I use it as my primary note-taking and thinking tool.
My Workflow
- Capture: Quick notes in a daily note or inbox
- Process: Link and organize during weekly reviews
- Publish: Sync to this digital garden via Git
Plugins I Use
- Dataview: Query notes like a database
- Templater: Consistent frontmatter templates
- Git: Auto-commit and push to the garden repo
Publishing Pipeline
The flow from Obsidian to the web:
- Write notes in Obsidian with standard frontmatter
- Notes are stored in the same Git repository as the Astro project
- Each commit triggers a rebuild
- Pagefind re-indexes automatically
Tips
Keep notes atomic — one idea per note. This makes linking more meaningful and the graph view more useful.
